Draft#U.Informação: Imersão/Existenzmaximum
“A very small object can generate invisible yet powerful personal fields that others can enter only when invited, although they are not delimited by physical boundaries. I call this kind of space Existensmaximum, a word inspired by the German racionalist idea of teh Existensminimum, or the smallest possible dwelling unit in which fits as if in a puzzle. In the 1920s, these architects, among Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe, were intent on delineating the characteristics and specifications of the kitchen, dwelling, apartment building or neighborhood in which human beings could live efficiently while occupying the minimum space possible. The Existenzmaximum is instead the shelter or device that, while occupying the minimum space possible, enables the human being to expand his or her vital functions. It begins as small, yet conformable space-enabling device where the physical bundaries are protective, rather than oppressive, thus letting the senses and the spirit roam free.”

Isophone, James Auger, Jimmy Loizeau, Media Lab Europe, 2003
Flyhead Helmet, Günther Zamp Kelp, Laurids Ortner and Klaus Pinter, 1968
Interstitial Space Jelmet, James Auger and Jimmy Loizeau, 2004
SnowWorld, Hunter Hoffman and David Petterson, 2006
Social Tele-presence, James Auger and Jimmy Loizneau, 2001
